بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

1) Mansūr ibn Abī Muzāhim: I heard Mālik ibn Anas mention Abū Hanīfah, and he spoke of him with harsh words, and said: “He plotted against the religion.” He said: “And whoever plots against the religion is not of the religion.” (al-Sunnah 1/248 – Authenticated by Sh. Muqbil & al-Riyāshī)

2) Walīd ibn Muslim who said: Mālik ibn Anas said: “Is Abū Hanīfah [in a variant: “the ra’ī of Abū Hanīfah”] mentioned in your city?” I said: “Yes.” He said: “It is not fitting that your city be inhabited.” (al-Sunnah 1/248 – Authenticated by Sh. Muqbil & al-Riyāshī)

3) Mālik ibn Anas said: “Abū Hanīfah is among the incurable afflictions”; and Mālik said: “Abū Hanīfah nullifies the sunan.” (al-Sunnah 1/249 – Authenticated by al-Riyāshī)

4) Mālik ibn Anas, who said: “No one born in Islām has been more harmful to the people of Islām than Abū Hanīfah”; and he used to condemn [the use of] ra’ī (legal opinion).” (al-Sunnah 1/250 – authenticated by Sh. Muqbil & al-Riyāshī)

5) Mālik say: “This matter [i.e., religious practice/jurisprudence] remained balanced [i.e. sound] until Abū Hanīfah arose and introduced analogical reasoning (qiyās) among them — and he neither prospered nor succeeded [in this].” (Jāmi Bayān al-‘Ilm pg. 374 – Authenticated by Sh. Muqbil)

6) Mālik said: “Had Abū Hanīfah risen up against this community with the sword, that would have been easier upon them than what he introduced among them of analogical reasoning (qiyās) and legal opinion (raʾī).” (Jāmi Bayān al-‘Ilm pg. 374 – Authenticated by Sh. Muqbil)

7) al-Shāfiʿī said: I heard Mālik ibn Anas — and he was asked, “Do you know Abū Hanīfah?” — say: “Yes. What is your view of a man who, if he said ‘This pillar is [made] of gold,’ would stand firm behind [that claim] until he made it [into] gold — when it is [in reality made] of wood or stone?”

Abū Muhammad [Ibn Abī Hatim] said: “He means that he [Abū Hanīfah] would persist in error and argue in its defense, and would not return to what is correct once it became clear to him.” (al-Tārīkh of al-Khatīb 15/551 – Authenticated by Sh. Muqbil)
